Light Grits Spoon Bread
Light Grits Spoon Bread is an easy dinner. Made with 2 c. skim milk, 1/3 c. uncooked grits, 1/2 tsp. salt and 3 eggs, separated, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Combine milk, grits and salt in a heavy saucepan.
Cook 10 minutes on low heat, stirring constantly or until very thick.
Egg yolks.
Add a little hot grits to warm egg yolks.
Yolks to grits.
Beat egg whites until they form stiff peaks.
Mixture. Put in 1 1/2 quart casserole dish sprayed with cooking spray. Bake at 375Β° for 35 to 40 minutes or until lightly brown. Serves 6.
