Jim'S Favorite Texas Hot Cocoa Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 lb. oleo (1 stick), 1/2 c. liquid shortening, 3 tbsp. cocoa, 1 tsp. soda and 2 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Melt shortening with oleo, cocoa and water in pan.
Bring to a boil and stir.
Sift sugar and flour in large bowl.
Pour liquid mixture over flour mixture and beat until smooth.
Add rest of ingredients and mix well.
Grease and flour pan.
Bake at 400Β° for 35 to 40 minutes.
It's best to use a jelly roll pan.
When you take the cake out of the oven, having icing ready to pour on the hot cake.
