Jelly Cake
Jelly Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. sifted flour, 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 c. shortening and 1 c. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Grease and flour two 8-inch cake pans.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt together.
Cream the shortening.
Add sugar gradually. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Combine milk and vanilla. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture, then half of the milk.
Repeat until all ingredients are added.
Pour into prepared pans and bake at 375Β° for 30 to 35 minutes. Spread layers with favorite jam or jelly.
