Italian Spaghetti Sauce
Italian Spaghetti Sauce is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. ground pork, 1 green pepper, chopped, 1 (12 oz.) can progresso italian whole tomatoes, 1 can sliced mushrooms and 1/2 c. extra light olive oil, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Combine olive oil, minced garlic, onion and green pepper in Dutch oven or large pot.
Saute until tender.
Add pork and brown. Add tomato purée and tomato paste, stirring until combined. Strain whole tomatoes through strainer (mash by hand) so that only the juice goes into the sauce.
Add remaining ingredients and season to taste.
Simmer over very low heat for 1 hour, stirring constantly.
Sauce freezes well and recipe makes plenty!
