Italian Cream Cake

Cream butter, shortening and sugar until smooth.
Add egg yolks, one at a time.
Add flour, soda and buttermilk alternately. Add vanilla, coconut and nuts.
Fold in egg whites.
Bake in three 8-inch greased and floured pans at 350Β° for 25 minutes. Then cool and frost.
