Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl.
Add eggs and buttermilk until mixture will slide off a large spoon.
Stir in pepper and onion.
Drop by teaspoon into moderately hot oil.

(Good cooked in oil in which fish has been fried if oil is not burned or too brown.)
