Hush Puppies
Hush Puppies is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3 c. self-rising cornmeal, 1 c. all-purpose flour, 1 tbsp. sugar, 1 tsp. baking powder and 1 medium onion, chopped, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Combine all dry ingredients.
Add milk, onion and bacon drippings. Spread batter evenly 1/2-inch thick on a flat surface with pancake spatula.
Using a knife, push a 1/2-inch wide "finger" of batter off the pancake spatula and into the hot oil.
As hush puppies float, turn them.
Keep repeating until all the batter is used.
Drain on a paper towel.
