Hermits
Hermits is an impressive dinner. Made with 1 3/4 c. flour, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 8 tbsp. unsalted butter, at room temperature, 1 c. brown sugar and 1 egg, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Preheat oven to 350Β°.
Combine flour, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and baking soda.
Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
Use electric mixer at medium speed.
Add egg, vanilla and lemon zest; beat until combined.
Beat half the flour mixture into butter and sugar.
Add 1/4 cup milk, then beat in remaining flour mixture until well blended.
Stir in dates, raisins and walnuts.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
Bake until brown, about 10 minutes.
Stir 4 to 6 teaspoons milk, a teaspoon at a time, into confectioners sugar to make a thin glaze.
Spread on top of cooled cookies.
Yields about 4 dozen.
