Combine potatoes, 1/2 cup butter, onion, soup, sour cream, cheese, salt and pepper.
Spoon into greased casserole and cover with corn flake crumbs.
Spoon remaining 1/4 cup butter over top. Bake at 300° to 350° for 40 to 50 minutes until ingredients are hot and bubbly throughout.
