Using a paring knife, trim vine cores from tomatoes.
Slice in rounds 1/4-inch thickness.
Place in a large mixing bowl.
Add dressing, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
With a wooden spoon, toss lightly to cover each slice evenly.
Chill 30 minutes.
Mix cornmeal and flour in a shallow dish.
Place vegetable oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat.
Pour tomatoes in a strainer; rinse lightly with warm water and allow to drain.
Coat each slice of tomato in cornmeal-flour mixture.
