Great And Easy Stew is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 4 to 5 lb. cheap roast (chuck), cut into cubes, 5 sliced carrots, 4 sliced onions, 3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce and salt and pepper, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.
Put cut up meat in a very large roasting casserole with carrots, onions, tomato sauce, salt and pepper to taste.
Bake, covered, at 250Β° for 5 hours.
After 3 hours, add sweet potato and regular potatoes.
Cook until tender.
At very end, thicken with potato starch, dissolved in wine or water.
Mushrooms and pearl onions are an optional addition.
