Grandpa Cookies

Cream the sugars and shortening. Beat in eggs, salt, soda, baking powder and vanilla. Mix in flour well. Add oatmeal and coconut.
Roll into balls the size of a walnut.
Press flat with fork dipped in cold water. Bake in preheated 375Β° oven about 7 minutes (until light golden brown).
Cool on rack. Store in airtight container in freezer.
(One pound coffee cans are good containers.)
