Grandma's Jiffy Rolls
Grandma'S Jiffy Rolls is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. yeast, 1/2 c. lukewarm water, 1/2 tsp. sugar, 1/2 c. milk, scalded and cooled and 1 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.
Pour water over yeast; add 1/2 teaspoon sugar.
Stir to dissolve and let set.
Mix milk, sugar, salt, egg and yeast with 2 cups flour.
Beat until smooth.
Add melted shortening, then rest of flour or what can be stirred in well.
Cover and let rise one hour.
Turn out on floured board and shape into rolls.
Roll in melted butter and place in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Let rise until light.
Bake at 375Β° for 15 minutes.
