Grandma Mables' Shortbread
Grandma Mables' Shortbread is an easy dinner. Made with 4 1/4 to 4 3/4 c. flour, 1 c. brown sugar, tightly packed and 1 lb. butter, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Cream butter; add sugar and beat well.
Add about 4 1/4 cups of flour slowly and mix until dough cracks (use hands if necessary).
Roll out 1/2 to 3/4-inch thickness.
Cut and place on ungreased baking sheets.
Decorate with cut up cherries.
Bake in slow oven, 275° to 300°, until medium brown, 20 to 35 minutes. Cool on rack.
Store tightly covered.
May freeze.
Can be made in food processor.
