Gingersnaps is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. shortening, 1 c. brown sugar, 1 egg, beaten, 1/4 c. molasses and 2 1/4 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Heat oven to 350°.

Cream together the shortening and sugar. Add the beaten egg and molasses and mix well.

Add the sifted dry ingredients to first mixture and blend together.

Chill dough for several hours.

Shape the cooled dough into small balls about the size of a walnut and dip the tops in sugar.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350°.

Makes approximately 4 dozen cookies.
