Blend flour, salt and shortening until mealy.
In separate bowl, mix together water, egg and vinegar; add all at once to flour mixture.
Mix with fork until pastry leaves the side of bowl.
Roll out on floured board.

Yields 2 double crust pies and 1 pie shell, depending on the size of the pie plates used.
