German Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 pkg. baker's german's sweet chocolate, 1/2 c. boiling water, 2 c. sugar, 1 c. butter and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Melt chocolate in water; cool.
Cream butter and sugar.
Beat in egg yolks, one at a time.
Stir in vanilla and chocolate.
Sift flour, soda and salt.
Beat in flour mixture alternately with buttermilk.
Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter.
Pour batter into 13 x 9-inch pan lined with waxed paper. Bake at 350Β° for 40 to 45 minutes.
Cool 15 minutes.
Frost with Coconut Pecan Frosting.
