German Chocolate Cake
German Chocolate Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 (4 oz.) pkg. baker's german's sweet chocolate, 1/2 c. boiling water, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1 c. (2 sticks) butter and 4 egg yolks, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Melt chocolate in boiling water; cool.
Sift flour, soda and salt.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each.
Blend in vanilla and melted chocolate.
Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating after each addition.
Fold in egg whites. Pour into three 9-inch layer pans, lined on bottom with waxed paper and greased.
Bake at 350Β° for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly pressed in center.
Cool in pans for 15 minutes.
Remove and cool on rack.
Spread coconut-pecan frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake.
