Fruit Cookies
Fruit Cookies is an impressive dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 1 c. dark brown sugar, 1 egg, 1/4 c. buttermilk and 1 3/4 c. flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Cream shortening and sugar, add egg and beat well.
Sift dry ingredients together, add dry ingredients and milk to mixture. Add 1/2 cup extra flour to the candied fruits, nuts, raisins and coconut.
Mix until fruit is well coated.
Pour the batter over the fruits.
Add brandy flavoring and mix well.
Drop 1 teaspoon of mixture on a cookie sheet for each cookie.
Bake at 300Β° for 12 minutes or until the cookies are a light golden brown.
For decoration, put 1/2 candied cherry on top of each cookie before baking.
