Fried Okra
Fried Okra is an easy dinner. Made with 1 to 1 1/4 lb. okra, 8 c. water, 1/2 c. salt, cornmeal and vegetable oil, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Wash okra well and drain.
Cut off tip and stem ends; cut okra crosswise into 1/2-inch slices.
Combine water and salt.
Pour over okra and soak for 30 minutes.
Drain, rinse well and drain again. Roll okra in cornmeal and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
Drain well on absorbent towels.
Yields 6 servings.
