Fried Bread
Fried Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. milk, 3 tbsp. sugar, 2 tsp. salt, 3 tbsp. butter and 1 c. warm water, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Scald milk.
Stir in sugar, salt and butter.
Let cool until warm.
Add yeast; stir slightly.
Add flour and mix.
Let rise for 2 hours.
Roll out and cut into strips 1-inch wide, 3 inches long and 1/2-inch thick.
Deep fry in favorite shortening (no oil). Remove from fryer when browned; salt to taste.
Will puff in the center.
Serve with cheese, cold cuts, sausages and/or salads. Great for holiday parties.
