French Onion Soup
French Onion Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 lb. yellow onions, sliced, 1/4 c. butter, 2 tbsp. flour, 4 c. water and 5 beef bouillon cubes, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.
Saute onions in butter in heavy saucepan.
Stir in flour. Cook until flour is lightly browned.
Add water, bouillon and salt.
Bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve bouillon.
Simmer, covered, for 15 minutes.
Ladle into ovenproof bowls.
Top with French bread.
Sprinkle with cheese.
Broil until cheese is light brown.
