French Onion Soup
French Onion Soup is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/4 c. olive oil, 1/4 c. butter or margarine, 8 medium onions, thinly sliced and separated into rings, 6 c. beef broth and 2 tbsp. sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Combine oil and butter in a large Dutch oven. Heat until butter melts.
Add onions and saute until tender. Add broth, sugar, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer soup mixture 20 minutes.
Place toasted bread in individual soup bowls.
Add soup and top with cheese slice.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
