Put dry ingredients in large mixing bowl.
Beat egg.
Add milk and melted shortening.
Add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients. Stir just enough to moisten dry ingredients.
Fill paper lined muffin pans 2/3 full.
Bake at 400Β° for 10 minutes.
While muffins are baking, melt 1/2 cup butter.
Mix 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon.
While muffins are still hot, dip each in butter and then in cinnamon sugar.
Serve immediately.
