Filled Angel Food Cake
Filled Angel Food Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 large angel food cake, 1 c. milk, 1/2 c. sugar, 2 eggs, well beaten and 1/4 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A classic recipe that has been enjoyed for generations.

Place milk, sugar, eggs and salt in top of double boiler. Place over boiling water; stir constantly until custard lightly coats spoon.
Do not overcook.
Soften gelatin in cold water and pour custard over it.
Stir until dissolved.
Add flavorings. Chill until partially thickened.
Stir frequently.
Fold in whipped cream.
Split cake in 2 layers.
Spoon filling between layers, on sides and top of cake.
Sprinkle with almonds.
Chill. Serves 16.
