Combine first 4 ingredients.
Cool to lukewarm (105° to 115°). Add yeast mixture.
Add eggs.
Mix in 4 1/2 cups flour to form smooth dough (beat 50 to 100 strokes by hand).
If dough is too sticky, add more flour (it should not stick to sides).
Place in an oiled bowl and turn to grease top.
Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
