Eldon's Mom's Chocolate Cake

Cream sugar, shortening, eggs and vanilla.
Combine dry ingredients.
Add alternately with the water.
Makes 2 layers or a 9 x 13-inch loaf cake.
Bake at 350Β° until cake tests done, 25 to 35 minutes.
Mom always frosted it with chocolate icing and it seemed there was always chocolate cake in the cake saver.
