Beat egg yolks, stir in 1/2 cup sugar, salt and nutmeg; add milk.
Pour into pie shell and bake at 450° for 15 minutes.
Reduce to 300° and bake about 45 minutes more or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Top with meringue and bake until brown.
