Dutch Apple Cake
Dutch Apple Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 c. flour, 6 tbsp. vermont butter, 4 tsp. baking powder, 1 egg, separated and 1/2 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. An easy weeknight meal that comes together quickly.
Stir salt, baking powder and flour together and work in shortening (butter); add egg yolk to mixture and fold in stiffly beaten egg white.
Spread mixture 1/2-inch thick in shallow baking pan.
Pare, core and quarter apples.
Cut every quarter into 2 pieces lengthwise.
Place in parallel rows on top of mixture with the sharp edge down.
Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon mixture. Bake in 400Β° oven for 30 minutes.
Serve with whipped cream.
