Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, soda-water mixture and vanilla.
Sift flour and salt; add to other mixture and blend. Drop by small spoonful on greased pan.
Make dent in top; put in 1 teaspoon filling.
Add teaspoon dough over filling (does not have to cover filling).
Bake at 400Β° until browned.
