Dixie Biscuits
Dixie Biscuits is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 c. mashed potatoes, 1 c. hot potato water, 1 c. melted lard or crisco, 2/3 c. sugar and flour, enough for stiff dough, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.

Stir together potatoes, hot potato water, lard and sugar. Cool.
Add yeast dissolved in water.
Mix together and let set for 2 hours.
Add salt, eggs and flour.
Mix well and knead on floured board.
Put in refrigerator overnight.
When ready to use, roll out about 1/2 inch thick.
Place in greased pan, also greasing each biscuit.
Put in warm place and let rise 2 or 3 hours.
Bake in moderate oven.
