Devil's Food Cake
Devil'S Food Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. shortening, 2 c. brown sugar, 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, 2 eggs and 2 1/2 c. cake flour or add 2 tbsp. cornstarch to regular flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually.
Cream until fluffy. Add melted chocolate, then unbeaten eggs.
Beat until light.
Sift flour and measure; add baking powder, salt and soda.
Sift twice more.
Add dry ingredients and milk alternately to creamed mixture, beating between additions.
Add boiling water and vanilla and beat well.
Bake in 2 greased (or sprayed) 9-inch layer pans at 350Β° for 35 minutes.
Cool; frost with Fudge Frosting.
