Devil's Food Cake
Devil'S Food Cake is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 1/2 c. sifted swans down cake flour, 1 3/4 c. sugar, 1 3/4 tsp. baking soda, 1 tsp. salt and 2/3 c. shortening (room temperature), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Great for entertaining guests or a cozy night in.

Sift flour with sugar, soda and salt.
Stir shortening to soften.
Add flour mixture, 1 and vanilla.
Mix until flour is dampened.
Beat 2 minutes medium speed of electric mixer.
Add eggs, melted chocolate and remaining 1/3 cup milk. Beat 1 minute longer.
Greased and floured 9-inch layer pans.
Bake at 350Β° for 35 minutes.
