Deep Dish Apple Pie
Deep Dish Apple Pie is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 6 c. thinly sliced peeled apples (2 lb.), 1/4 c. sugar, 1 tsp. ground cinnamon, 1 tbsp. cornstarch and 1/8 tsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Ideal for meal prep and leftovers taste even better.
Place apples in 10 x 6 x 2-inch baking dish.
Combine sugar and cinnamon; set aside 1 teaspoon of mixture.
Stir cornstarch and salt into sugar mixture.
Sprinkle over apples.
Stir together flour and nutmeg.
Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of water over part of mixture. Toss with fork.
Repeat until all moistened.
Form into a ball and roll dough into a 12 x 8-inch rectangle.
Place pastry atop apples.
Cut vents in pastry and flute edges.
Bake at 375Β° for 40 minutes.
