Date Nut Bread
Date Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 3/4 c. chopped nuts, 1 c. chopped dates, 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt and 1/4 c. shortening (or 1/2 stick butter), this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Combine nuts, dates, baking soda and salt in a bowl.
Add shortening and water.
Let stand for 15 minutes.
Beat eggs slightly; add vanilla.
Stir in the sugar and flour.
Add to date mixture.
Do not overmix.
Place in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.
Bake 1 hour at 350Β°.
Cool before slicing.
