Date Nut Bread
Date Nut Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 c. boiling water, 1 c. chopped dates, 1 1/2 c. sugar, 1 egg, whipped and 2 1/4 c. sifted flour, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Perfect for family dinners and special occasions.

Pour boiling water over dates, let stand for 10 minutes.
Add sugar to beaten egg; sift together all dry ingredients, stir in walnuts.
Add date mixture alternately with the sifted dry ingredients to the sugar/egg mixture.
Stir in shortening and vanilla.
Pour into well greased loaf pan.
Bake at 350Β° for one hour and 15 minutes or until done.
