Creamed Cabbage Soup
Creamed Cabbage Soup is an impressive soup you can prepare in about 1 hour 22 minutes. Made with (14 1/2 oz.) cans chicken broth, ribs celery, chopped, (3 lb.) cabbage, shredded, medium onion, chopped and carrot, chopped, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
In a large kettle, combine first 5 ingredients; bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover and simmer until vegetables are tender. Meanwhile, melt butter in a medium pan.
Add flour, salt and pepper; stir to form a smooth paste.
Gradually add cream and milk to flour mixture, stirring constantly.
Cook until thickened. Continue cooking 1 minute longer.
Gradually stir into vegetables. Add ham and thyme; heat through.
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
