Cracker Jacks
Cracker Jacks is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 20 c. popped corn, 2 c. salted peanuts, 2 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. white syrup and 1/4 c. molasses, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.
Boil together brown sugar, syrup, molasses and margarine for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring often.
Remove from heat and add soda. Have popcorn and peanuts in deep pan (I use a roaster) and pour syrup mixture over popcorn and nuts.
Mix and put in oven at 250Β°. Stir every 15 minutes for 1 hour.
Remove from oven and put on waxed paper to cool.
Store in a tightly closed container.
