Place ham slices in a cold cast-iron skillet.
Cook over medium heat until fat is crisp, turning several times for even cooking.
Remove ham to warm platter.
Pour excess fat from skillet, leaving about 2 tablespoons.

Add coffee and water; heat to boiling. Serve over ham slices.
