Dissolve yeast in water in a large warm bowl. Add milk, sugar, salt and margarine.

Stir in 2 cups unsifted flour.

Beat with rotary beater until smooth, about 1 minute. Add 1 cup flour and beat until mixed.

Gradually stir in enough additional flour (3 cups or more) to make a soft dough.

Turn onto lightly floured board and knead until smooth and elastic.

Cover dough with towel and let rest 20 minutes.
