Congo Bars
Congo Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 2/3 c. flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2/3 c. shortening and 1 lb. brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.

Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Melt shortening and stir in brown sugar.
Let sugar mixture cool and beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add flour mixture and chocolate bits.
Pour into greased 10 1/2 x 15 1/2-inch cookie sheet.
Bake at 350Β° for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool, then cut in squares.
