Congo Bars
Congo Bars is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 2 2/3 c. all-purpose flour, 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2/3 c. margarine, melted and 2 1/4 c. brown sugar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A crowd-pleaser that never disappoints.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Set aside.
Melt margarine in a large saucepan.
Stir in brown sugar and allow to cool slightly.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well.
Add flour mixture, nuts and chocolate chips.
Pour into a greased 15 x 10 x 1-inch pan.
Bake at 350Β° for 30 minutes.
Cut into squares. Yield: 50 to 60 squares.
