Melt chocolate in water.

Add 2/3 cup sugar and bring to a boil.

Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup butter or margarine and 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla.

Set sauce aside.

Mix and stir flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.

Add margarine, vanilla and milk. Beat 2 minutes.

Add 1 egg and beat 2 more minutes.

Pour into unbaked 9-inch pie shell.

Pour sauce over batter and sprinkle top with 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts.

Bake 55 to 60 minutes at 350Β°. Serve with whipped cream.
