Pour boiling water over the chocolate; let stand until cool. Cream the butter and vanilla.
Add brown sugar and add eggs one at a time.
Mix together the flour, soda and salt.
Stir this into creamed mixture; mix well.

Bake in prepared loaf pan at 325Β° for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
