Chocolate Chip Butterscotch Bars

Preheat oven to 300Β°.
Grease an 8 x 8-inch baking pan. Combine flour and soda in a medium bowl; mix well with wire whisk. Set aside.
Large bowl, use an electric mixer to blend the sugar and butter.
Add egg and vanilla.
Beat at medium speed until light and smooth. Scrape down sides of bowl, then add the flour mixture, pecans and chocolate chips.
Blend at low speed until just combined.
Do not overmix.
Place batter in pan.
Level evenly.
Bake for 35 to 45 minutes.
Cool and cut into 1 x 2-inch bars.
Yields 16 bars.
