Cream butter with sugar; beat in eggs, then water.
In separate bowl sift flour, cocoa, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg. Beat into creamed ingredients along with vanilla, chocolate morsels and apples.
Turn into a greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 325Β° for 1 1/4 hours.
Cool thoroughly before slicing. May be topped with whipped cream.
