With electric beater, mix until very stiff the egg whites, sugar, vanilla, salt and cream of tartar.
Fold in the pecans. Grease a 9-inch pie pan. Turn mixture into pan, forming a nest on bottom and up on sides. Bake at 300Β° for 55 minutes. Cool.
