Challah Bread
Challah Bread is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1/2 c. warm water, 2 pkg. dry yeast, 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk, scalded then cooled, 1/4 c. sugar and 1 tbsp. salt, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. A comforting dish that warms the soul.

Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Stir in milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and 1/2 of the flour into yeast.
Mix until smooth.
Add enough flour to handle easily.
Turn onto floured board; knead and let rise in greased bowl until doubled.
Punch down and separate into 3 equal parts.
Divide each of the three parts into three more parts.
