Caramelized Small Onions
Caramelized Small Onions is an moderately easy dinner. Made with 1 1/2 lb. small white onions, 2 tbsp. butter, 1 c. water, 1 tbsp. granulated sugar and 1 tbsp. vinegar, this recipe delivers authentic, satisfying flavors. Simple to make and full of bold, satisfying flavors.

Boil onions for 15 to 20 seconds to loosen the skin; drain. Run under cold water.
Cut a small piece from both ends of each onion.
Cut an "X" in the root end of the onions to keep them from separating.
Put onions in a small pan with 1 tablespoon butter, water and the sugar.
Bring to a boil, then simmer uncovered for about 15 minutes, or until the liquid evaporates and the onions are tender.
Stir in the vinegar, green onions and remaining butter.
Serve at room temperature.
