Buttermilk Pound Cake

Cream oleo,
Crisco and 2 cups sugar well.
Reserve 1/2 cup sugar for whites.
Add 1 egg yolk at a time, beating well after each.
Sift and measure flour; add salt and baking powder. Add buttermilk and dissolve.
Begin adding flour mixture and add alternately with buttermilk, ending with flour. Add flavoring.
Egg whites and
1/2 cup sugar until stiff peaks form.
Fold into cake mixture.
Bake in tube pan at 325Β° for 1 1/2 hours.
